Save EXE files (Windows Executable) as PDF

Step 1: Requirements
  • You are able to open or execute the EXE file on your computer.
  • You are working with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Step 2: Save the content of the EXE file as XPS format or as a screenshot (JPG)
Before creating the PDF file, you have to create either an XPS file on your computer (this only works if the content of the program is printable) or you create a screenshot of the content as a JPG file.
This is fast and possible without an additional installation.
Option A - Content of the EXE file is printable:
  • Open your EXE file as usual and open the content which you want to save as a PDF file.
  • Select File -> Print in your file directly or press

    P
    (Don't worry, nothing will be printed on paper!)
  • Choose the following printer: "Microsoft XPS Document Writer".
  • Click "OK" or "Print".
  • Choose a storage location for the XPS file and click "Save".
Option B - Create a screenshot as a JPG file:
  • Open your EXE file as usual and open the content which you want to save as a PDF file.
  • Take a screenshot, e.g. with the preinstalled "Snipping Tool":

  • Choose the screen section which you want to save.
  • Save the screenshot as a JPG file.
